1.       Free morphemes are those which can stand alone as words of a language.

                  - cat
                  - laugh
                  - look

2.       bound morphemes must be attached to other morphemes like affixes.
example: - (dis-) dislike
                  - surely (-ly)
                  - novelist (-ist)
                  - lover (-er)
                  - (un-) unimportant .

3.       Prefix is a syllable put at the beginning of another word to change its meaning.
example: - (sub-) subtopic
                  - (dis-) disorder
                  - (mis-) miscommunication
                  - (il-) illegality
                  - (im-) impolite

4.       Suffix is an affix that is added at the end of the word.
example: - liner (-er)        
                  - friendship (-ship)
                  - gangster (-ster)
                  - booklet (-let)
                  - librarian (-an)

5.       Confix is An affix consisting of a prefix and suffix affixed simultaneously to the root.
example: - (un-) unlikely (-ly)
                  - (un-) uninteresting (-ing)
                  - (ir-) irresponsible (-ible)
                  - (il-) illegality (-ity)
                  - (mis-) misdirection (-ion).
